Miami Trace Local School District is Committed to Safe Schools

Pursuant to guidelines established in the Ohio Revised Code, the Miami Trace Local School District is committed to providing a safe environment for its students.  To this end, the district collects and monitors data on incidents of reported bullying throughout the school year.

During the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year, our building administrative teams in grades K-12 investigated and documented 29 reported incidents of bullying.  All reported incidents of bullying resulted in an investigation.  If it were determined that bullying had occurred, counseling was provide to the accused perpetrator and victim by an administrative team member with a follow-up to the parents.  Additional interventions included 16 assignments to in-school discipline, 3 assignments to the Miami Trace Learning Center-Alternative School, and various out-of-school disciplinary action.
On-going education on bullying is presented to students in character education programs throughout the district.  Required professional development is provided to staff on preventing, recognizing, and reacting to bullying and other forms of aggressive behavior and abuse.
