SENIORS: Applying to College

.Fill out applications.  You’ll need an application for each college.  Almost all all can be done on-line.  Ask your counselor if you have questions about the Common Application.

.Take the ACT or SAT. Almost all colleges require one or the other. For more information on the ACT, click here. For more information on the SAT, click here.

.Write Admissions Essays. Most colleges require you to write an admissions essay.  This is your chance to tell them things the test scores do not cover.

.Ask for letters of recommendation.  Choose adults who know you well (teachers, coaches, employers) who will have good things to say.  Give them at least a month to prepare.

.Send official transcripts  If you’re under 18, get parent’s signature on transcript release form.  Bring a stamped envelope for each transcript you want mailed.
