Miami Trace Local School District is Committed to Safe Schools
Pursuant to guidelines established in the Ohio Revised Code, the Miami Trace Local School District is committed to providing a safe environment for its students. To this end, the district collects and monitors data on incidents of reported bullying throughout the school year.
During the first semester of the 2016-2017 school year, our building administrative teams in grades K-12 investigated and documented 21 reported incidents of bullying. All reported incidents of bullying resulted in an investigation. If it were determined that bullying had occurred, counseling was provided to the accused perpetrator and victim by an administrative team member with a follow-up to the parents. Additional interventions included 8 assignments to in-school discipline and 7 various out-of-school disciplinary actions.
On-going education on bullying is presented to students in character education programs throughout the district. Required professional development is provided to staff on preventing, recognizing, and reacting to bullying and other forms of aggressive behavior and abuse.
